Your responsibilities
- Identify and quantify improvement opportunities; optimise recipes, yeast and enzyme dosing, and operating conditions to suit feedstock characteristics and plant conditions.
- Analyse plant data, reduce losses and specific chemical consumption, improve microbiological control, and lead root cause analysis of plant deviations with Operations and Maintenance.
- Plan and lead fermentation trials from pilot work through industrial implementation, working with R&D, the Laboratory and Operations.
- Develop technical scopes, cost estimates and expected benefits; following approval, lead technical delivery from design through commissioning and performance verification.
- Own the area’s technical standards, design basis and operating envelopes; develop procedures, document results and contribute to operator training.
- Work with the Digitalization team on digital twins, AI models and advanced process control (APC), providing process-engineering expertise and validating assumptions and outputs.
- Provide technical leadership for major shutdowns and start-ups, and apply process-safety, management-of-change and quality requirements throughout your work.
What you bring
- A BSc or MSc in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology or a related technical or scientific discipline; an MSc is preferred.
- Relevant experience in large-scale fermentation and process engineering, preferably in ethanol, grain processing, biorefining, food or biotechnology operations.
- Practical experience in recipe optimisation, yeast and enzyme application, microbiological control, plant trials and delivery of process improvements.
- Strong process-engineering fundamentals, data analysis and structured problem-solving; ownership, disciplined follow-through and effective collaboration across functions.
- Fluent technical and business English. Hungarian language is an advantage.
- Proficiency in APC, SPC, statistical analysis or Six Sigma is an advantage.
What the role offers
Technical ownership of improvements across an industrial fermentation area, with measurable operating results. Opportunities to work at pilot and production scale, deliver improvements through their full lifecycle, and collaborate with engineers, researchers and digitalization specialists.
