In response to the Hungarian Government's call for action, Pannonia Bio has implemented a series of voluntary measures to reduce our impact on the national electricity grid and local water resources while maintaining safe and reliable operations.
Where possible, we have introduced remote working arrangements and temporarily closed all but one of our office buildings. In our central office building, air conditioning settings have been adjusted to higher temperatures as part of our energy-saving efforts.
On the operational side, we have temporarily shut down the Vapour Compression units, delivering a 5 MW reduction in electricity demand. In addition, our barley processing operation will further reduce electricity consumption by approximately 1 MW during the peak demand period between 17:00 and 22:00. Taken together, these actions constitute a substantial energy-saving effort.
To help ease pressure on local water resources, we have also suspended irrigation and postponed all non-essential water-consuming activities until conditions improve.
We recognize that in extraordinary situations such as this, industrial companies also have a responsibility to contribute. Through these measures, we aim to support the stability of national utility systems while continuing to operate safely and reliably.
